Aberdeen Altens Hotel upgraded with WiFi as a service from Wifirst


RBH, the UK’s leading independent hotel management company, manages a diverse collection of over 70 branded and private label hotel properties. Working in partnership with five of the most prestigious international hotel brands, including IHG, Hilton, Accor, Marriott and Wyndham, RBH is a driving force in the hospitality industry. 


The Challenge

Aberdeen Altens had invested heavily in their WiFi and data line services. However, over time the solution had become problematic and was impacting guests wishing to use the service. Furthermore, when trying to access technical support, hotel staff found themselves caught between the WiFi and data line providers, neither of whom were accepting responsibility for the challenges faced by the hotel.

The Solution

Wifirst conducted a thorough onsite WiFi survey to review the difficulties faced and consequently propose a plan to redeploy WiFi covering all 216 rooms in the hotel in addition to public spaces and meeting rooms, upgrading all wireless access points, switches, and providing new cabling throughout the property, connected to a superfast Fibre Leased Line, all fully managed directly by Wifirst.

The Result

Aberdeen Altens hotel now offers guests a reliable, fast WiFi service that has positively impacted guest feedback. Staff also find operational management to be a breath of fresh air. As a one-stop-shop provider, Wifirst proactively monitors both the WiFi network, data line and remains available to both staff and guests 24/7 should technical support ever be required.
