Yeatheridge Farm is a family-run caravan and camping park nestled in the heart of mid-Devon, owned and operated by the Hosegood family for many years. True to their Devon roots, the Hosegoods have created a space that reflects a deep care for their land, their animals, and the surrounding countryside — and a genuine desire to share it with others. The park offers an impressive range of on-site facilities including a restaurant, bar, shop, two indoor heated pools, a games room, riding stables, and fishing lakes, making it a self-contained rural escape for the whole family. But in an area with very little mobile phone coverage, guests increasingly needed reliable connectivity to complement the experience — and Yeatheridge needed a solution that could deliver it across a vast and diverse outdoor site.
THE CHALLENGE // Connectivity Across a Large, Complex Rural Site
Yeatheridge Farm had an existing WiFi set-up in place, but it was not fit for purpose. Built around a domestic home broadband connection — designed for personal rather than business use — the park had attempted to extend coverage to its outdoor spaces using consumer-grade WiFi extenders positioned throughout the campsite. The result was a slow, unreliable service that left caravans and campers with limited connectivity, compounded by the area's poor mobile phone signal.
The scale and nature of the site made the challenge particularly demanding. Covering a large rural campsite with reliable WiFi requires careful planning that goes far beyond simply adding more access points. Cabling needed to be routed across pathways and open ground, outdoor access points required bespoke mounting solutions that wouldn't intrude on the park's natural surroundings, and the network needed to be robust enough to serve guests across a wide and varied landscape — from pitches and pods to communal facilities.

Professional-grade outdoor access points were strategically positioned to deliver comprehensive WiFi coverage across all pitches, outdoor spaces, and communal facilities. Ahead of installation, careful planning ensured that every access point could connect into the network infrastructure efficiently. The Yeatheridge team assisted with trenching work to route cabling safely beneath pathways and out of sight.
Bespoke Mounting Solutions
To minimise the visual impact on the park's natural surroundings, custom-made wireless access point masts were designed and built — providing the height and positioning needed for optimal coverage while remaining unobtrusive against the Devon landscape.
Tiered WiFi & Revenue Generation
Yeatheridge also wanted to turn connectivity into an additional revenue stream. Wifirst implemented a tiered WiFi service offering guests complimentary basic access alongside a faster premium option available for purchase — creating an immediate, ongoing source of incremental income for the park.
