Inaugurated in 2017 in Tournan-en-Brie, Conforama's central warehouse is an outstanding logistics platform. With its 177,500 m² of floor space spread over a 33.3-hectare site, its 31 15-meter-high cells and its capacity for 270,000 pallets, this site is a strategic pillar of the retailer's supply chain.
But to ensure smooth management of logistics flows, every square meter must benefit from flawless network connectivity. Faced with problems of WiFi coverage and configuration, Conforama called on Wifirst to completely rethink the warehouse's network infrastructure.
// TECHNICAL CHALLENGES
A large-scale project: consulting, design, integration
Wifirst's mission began with a technical consulting phase. An initial on-site intervention in the pre-sales phase identified persistent coverage and configuration problems with the existing WiFi infrastructure.
The analysis carried out highlighted the need for an in-depth rethink of the network design to meet the site's specific constraints: cell height, rack density, potential interference, constant equipment mobility.
Wifirst proposed a new network architecture using WiFi 6, the latest-generation technology offering better performance in dense environments. The entire radio design has been rethought to ensure optimum distribution of access points, homogeneous coverage and maximum robustness, even in extreme conditions.

Meticulous execution on a busy site
Beyond the design challenges, the deployment of this new infrastructure represented a major operational challenge. As the warehouse is in continuous operation, the project had to be carried out without disrupting logistics activities, which are crucial to the retailer's supply chain. Wifirst's teams were responsible for the complete pre-configuration of the 356 new access points and switches supplied by the customer. Deployment of the LAN network was organized at night, for the sake of discretion and efficiency.

Wifirst also supplied all the passive equipment required for the installation (cabling and accessories) and orchestrated the gradual replacement of the old network: 159 WiFi 5 access points were removed once the new cells had been validated as working properly, ensuring a smooth transition.

On completion of the works, the warehouse is now equipped with 356 fully functional WiFi 6 access points, ensuring complete, reliable coverage across the entire site.
