Musée Rodin: WiFi for culture
Located at rue de Varenne, in the heart of Paris, the Musée Rodin is an emblematic place dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of Auguste Rodin's work. With over 700,000 visitors a year, it is one of France's most popular museums, and stands out for its exceptional architectural setting, notably the Hôtel de Biron and its sculpture garden. The museum wanted to offer high-quality WiFi connectivity to its visitors and staff, while respecting the site's heritage constraints.
// Technical Challenges: Balancing Heritage Preservation with Innovative Connectivity
A key challenge for the Rodin Museum’s IT department was to deliver seamless, stable, and secure connectivity within a site marked by significant architectural constraints. The WiFi network needed to cover the entire property—including historic buildings and the gardens—so visitors could enjoy uninterrupted access to digital content both indoors and outdoors.
Tailored coverage: seamless, consistent, and discreet connectivity
Wifirst designed and deployed a tailor-made WiFi architecture, ensuring homogeneous and discreet network coverage to preserve the museum's heritage. During the audit, our WiFi experts studied all the factors that could influence network coverage and quality: materials, ceiling height in the Hôtel de Biron in particular, obstacles (in this case, the works of art!), user density and interference with other electronic equipment.

Post-installation performance assessment
Wifirst deployed a WiFi infrastructure guaranteeing homogeneous, unobtrusive coverage, providing a fluid connection throughout the museum, including outdoor areas. Thanks to centralised network management with Wifirst center, the museum also benefits from access to detailed WiFi usage statistics, enabling it to better understand visitor behaviour. Insights such as visitor flow by zone, peak attendance, and connection times provide valuable data to optimize digital services and elevate the overall visitor experience.

The network's stability and security also improve working conditions for museum staff and outside contributors, facilitating exchanges and the management of day-to-day operations. Curators, mediators and administrative teams can rely on a reliable network to access databases, manage exhibitions and coordinate events. In addition, this robust WiFi infrastructure enhances the museum’s value as a premier venue for hosting private events.
