Since 2019, regiobus Hannover has partnered with HOTSPLOTS, part of the Wifirst Group, to bring passenger WiFi to its fleet. But from the start, the goal was broader than a one-off rollout. regiobus wanted a turnkey solution from a single provider — one that could scale over time and support future needs, not just solve the immediate challenge.

HOTSPLOTS supplied the right hardware and professionally installed passenger WiFi across the regiobus fleet, creating the foundation for everything that came next. Because the infrastructure was built to scale, new requirements could be added over time without disrupting existing services.
That same foundation was then used to connect additional IT systems and VPN tunnels, integrate onboard passenger TV, and even support research projects such as passenger surveys. Over time, what began as a passenger WiFi rollout became a broader digital platform that could support regiobus Hannover’s wider ambitions.

Today, the solution is installed across the entire regiobus fleet of more than 430 vehicles, with over 25,000 devices connecting to the WiFi every day. That level of usage shows how important the network has become to daily operations.
