Vinci Autoroutes - Escota
About Vinci Autoroutes
As Europe’s leading motorway concession operator, Vinci Autoroutes welcomes more than 2 million customers every day on the ASF, Cofiroute, Escota and Arcour networks. Vinci Autoroutes is a long-term partner of the granting authority, supporting regional development policies and meeting its customers’ transport needs.
Background
In 2015, Vinci Autoroutes and Wifirst signed an exclusive partnership agreement to provide ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi at service areas along the A8 motorway between Aix-en-Provence and Nice.
The solution implemented
The solution offered by Wifirst, which is both high-performance and secure, includes the provision of three separate SSIDs: guest access for residents, business access for staff, and access for external service providers, who will be able to connect to a secure internet network without having to log in via the login portal.
Tangible results
Since July 2015, Wi-Fi has been available continuously at all 11 rest areas. The service is free for 30 minutes; a 12-hour Wi-Fi package is available for €4 (including VAT). Signal quality remains high even during the summer months when visitor numbers are at their peak. We recorded a record high number of monthly connections in July 2017, with 16,970 motorists and lorry drivers connecting to the service.
“Many of our customers who use the A8 motorway every day are commuting to and from work and stop at service areas to relax, have a bite to eat, and also to work. That is why Vinci Autoroutes wanted to offer them a Wi-Fi service that guarantees performance and round-the-clock availability. We opted for quality and long-term reliability with Wifirst (part of the Bolloré Group), which is undoubtedly the leading specialist in this field in France today.”
