The senior living sector is undergoing radical change, with growing needs for connectivity to guarantee quality networks to residents and administrative teams. In December 2024, Zenitude Senior and Stella took over 72 sites formerly operated by Réside Études, requiring a rapid overhaul of their infrastructure. They chose Wifirst to modernise their network and integrate new services.

// CONNECTIVITY CHALLENGES

The sites taken over by Zenitude Senior and Stella were already equipped with Wifirst's FTTH and Guest WiFi solutions. However, the transition to a new operating model brought major challenges when it came to rationalising infrastructures, optimising costs and improving digital services for staff and residents alike. The objective was twofold:

  • Unify the network infrastructure to simplify management and reduce operating costs
  • Integrate new services tailored to the specific needs of the new operators, particularly in terms of telephony and network security.

// PROJECT CHALLENGES

  • Tight deadlines: 20 days to define the technical and commercial offer, a challenge requiring a high level of responsiveness and coordination.
  • Migration without service interruption: a smooth transition had to be ensured before existing services were decommissioned.
  • Standardisation of infrastructures: network equipment had to be harmonised across all sites to guarantee efficient management.

// WIFIRST'S RESPONSE

To guarantee a modern network infrastructure, Wifirst proposed a complete service offer including :

  • Managed LAN: WiFi and Ethernet networks for guest and business use.

  • FTTH WAN: shared fibre connection offering optimised throughput for all sites
  • VoIP Trunk SIP solution: modernisation of telephony to facilitate internal and external communications.

In addition, a FTTP backup could be integrated to ensure redundancy and continuity of service in the event of an incident.

// DEPLOYMENT OF THE SOLUTION

The deployment of the solution was structured in several phases to ensure a gradual transition without disruption:

Phase 1: strengthening the administrative network

At Zenitude Senior's 53 sites, Wifirst set up a dedicated wired network via the customer's firewall, as well as a separate business WiFi network. For the 19 Stella sites, a business WiFi network was configured for administrative use in the residence.

Phase 2: migration to an advanced VoIP solution

For the 53 Zenitude Senior sites, Wifirst configured a dedicated IPX access for the third-party telephone service provider and set up a Trunk SIP solution. The lines were then ported. For the 19 Stella sites, Trunk SIP configuration was finalised in just a few weeks, with a gradual migration of telephone lines.

// THE RESULTS

Thanks to this overhaul, Zenitude Senior and Stella now benefit from a more efficient and secure infrastructure. Unifying equipment reduces operating costs, while ensuring optimum connectivity for administrative teams and residents.

In addition, the modernisation of telephony with Wifirst's Trunk SIP solution ensures continuity for internal and external communications.

And all this without any service interruption, guaranteeing an optimal user experience from the moment the new infrastructure is installed!

Zenitude Senior and Stella relied on Wifirst's expertise to successfully modernise the infrastructure. They are now able to optimise costs, improve connectivity management and guarantee a seamless user experience for staff and residents alike.

"The deployment of VoIP Trunk SIP and the business network across the entire Stella estate, carried out at the beginning of March, marks a major step in the modernization of our telecom infrastructure and the improvement of the user experience for teams in residence. Thanks to seamless coordination between the technical and operational teams, the switchover to Wifirst IP telephony was carried out without any interruption to service, while providing improved call quality and a significant reduction in costs. This project is a fine example of successful collaboration with concrete benefits for the residences and their occupants."
